Jia Xu
Piano tutor (teacher) in Sydney’s Inner West. Offering piano lessons in Strathfield and surrounding suburbs of Sydney.
Jia Xu displayed musical talent at an early age and started studying piano when she was 5 ½ years old. She came to Australia in 1998 to enhance her musical education. She studied with the internationally acclaimed Timothy Young from the Australian Institute of Music. Jia Xu continued to expand her musical education and expertise by studying music at Utah State University in USA. She returned to Australia in 2004 to study with the prize winning Illya Zozulya from the Australian Institute of Music. Jia Xu profited from Illya Zozulya expertise acquired through his training in the traditional Russian school of music, his study with the elite Professor Victor Makarov, who studied with Regina Horowitz, sister of the world famous pianist Vladimir Horowitz.
Jia Xu was awarded a Bachelors of Music Degree with honors from the Australian Institute of Music majoring in Classical Piano Performance.
Jia Xu has been selected to perform at the Art Gallery of New South Wales on many occasions. Also, she has performed piano recitals at Saint Andrews Cathedral in Sydney.
Jia Xu had been a successful piano teacher (tutor) at Sydney’s Darlinghurst Public School, since 2008 to 2017. Her students range from 5-12 years of age. As part of her job, she has enabled students to prepare for AMEB examinations and their results have been very positive. Also, some of her students are learning music for recreational purposes.
In addition to teaching at the public school, Jia Xu is currently teaching adults and children in her Strathfield studio on a professional grand piano.
Jia Xu has the background and ability to teach all levels of piano. She is a patient and motivated piano teacher (tutor) and has experience in applying European and Russian teaching methods in the lessons that she offers to her students.
